Lampguard Mercury, Sodium & Metal Halide Lamps

The “Lampguard” protection on Mercury, High and Low Pressure Sodium lamps offer a unique protection against Widespread glass contamination and personal injury, safeguarding product and personnel at all times. Most lamp breakages typically occur while being replaced and unprotected lamps taken on and off site. Food Standards apply to these products. A simple mishandling accident can result in an explosion scattering glass.

Mercury

Mercury blended lamps produce a warm colour quality similar to that of tungsten filament lamps, and give good colour rendering. Lamp life up to 6000hr makes them excellent replacements for GLS filament lamps, especially where access for lamp changing is difficult or expensive.

Characteristics

Mercury blended lamps are ballasted by means of a tungsten filament within the outer envelope. They therefore need no control gear, and plug into existing lighting points at low installation cost.

ML lamps have europium activated yttrium vanadate phosphor coatings on the inner surface of the envelope to give good colour rendering, with up to 17% red content. A hard glass outer envelope is fitted to the 500W rating.

Range

Elliptical ML lamps are available in 100W and 160W ratings with standard ES or bayonet caps to directly replace GLS lamps, and in 250W and 500W ratings with GES caps to replace high power filament lamps.

The 106W MLR reflector lamp has an internal reflector to ensure that soiling cannot reduce its efficency, and is shaped to avoid accumulation of dirt on the light window.

Applications

Can directly replace GLS lamps in most situations. In addition, the MLR reflector lamp is suitable for use in display and plant lighting.

Sodium

High Pressure Sodium lamps have led the way in quality innovation. The Superlife lamps comprise a sodium discharge system operating at a high pressure within a ceramic arc tube, which is mounted in an outer glass bulb. All lamps have two arcs, each having the patented amalgam reservoir outside the arc tube. The second arc tube will instantly light when power is reapplied after a momentary power interruption.

Applications

The application possibilities include industrial and exterior applications, such as security, roadway, floodlighting and industrial interior illumination. They are especially suitable for relamp areas, which are narrow and/or difficult to access.

Features
  • Extremely long rated life up to 55 000 hours.
  • Extended replacement cycles up to six years
  • Dual arc tubes provide immediate recognition eliminating hot restrike time
  • Retrofit standard HPS lamps
